Thrice is returning with a brand new single “Dead Awake” via “Epitaph Records” which is paired with a lyric video that can be viewed here https://thrice.ffm.to/deadwake. The single that was in the works during the creation of Horizons/East may remind listeners of the same warm and introspective theme.
“This is a tune we were working on during the Horizons/East sessions but hadn’t completed” vocalist Dustin Kensrue on the new track ” I’ve always been fascinated by songs that only have one chord progression, but feel expansive and varied through the use of shifting melodies and layers, and we wanted to play with that format here.”
In tandem with the new release, Thrice has released an acoustic version of “Scavengers” a fan favorite from Horizons/East. The acoustic version is entrancing and emotional, with a vulnerable new take on the single.
The California band formed in 1998 is not new to adversity. They have always overcome and carried us through with them to the other side. Horizons/East was everything that was needed and nothing short of what we would expect from a band like Thrice. The album relaase came as we were fresh out of a global pandemic. The built the studio and recorded this album on their own and within those walls they were undusre of what would come out but they hit the mark with a sound that we all have come to know and love.

“… it’s a sound that suits the band, particularly frontman Dustin Kensrue’s dusky vocals, quite well. The instrumentals still hit like classic Thrice, but there’s more subtleties and textures within the arrangements. It’s good stuff.” – Revolver Magazine
“The word that most closely comes to mind when talking about Thrice is consistency. The second word that I most closely associate with this legendary band on their 11th studio album, Horizons/East, is variety. They simply do not make the same record twice; a true marking of an artist that is uncomfortable with the comfort that comes with creating similar sounding material.” – Chorus.fm
Thrice will be touring this summer, co-healdling with Bayside and special guest Anxious.
