Upcoming Pop-Punk band All At Once is currently promoting their new single, “Sailors”. We were fortunate enough to be able to set up an interview with the trio and it was an absolute pleasure. Their attitudes are delightful and their music will genuinely put you in a good mood. We are so excited about this band, how far they’ve gone, and how far they will go. You can watch the music video for their current release here!
MR: Introduce yourselves with one fun fact about each of you!
Adrian: Hi, I’m Adrian, and I hate to eat with my shoes on.
Eduardo: Hi, I’m Eduardo, guitar, and my first memory ever was throwing up on my 3-year-old birthday party.
Pablo: I’m Pablo, the drummer, and my first concert was Backstreet Boys.
MR: How did you come together as a band? What made you all decide to move to LA?
It was 2017, Adrian started making some songs, and called Eddy to join as a guitar player because he’s great, and we recorded the EP without a drummer. Gladly, a few months later Eddy met Pablo on a bar thanks to a Glamour Kills snapback that Eddy was wearing and they started to talk about the whole scene, Pablo said he was a drummer and got invited to the band, he said yes (YAY!) And we’ve been a trio from then on.
We haven’t moved yet, it’s on the plans, but the vibe, the beach, and the scene are what we’ve always looked for, we’ve been there a couple of times and we’ve had the time of our lives!
MR: Who/what are your biggest influences/inspirations musically?
It comes from different places, to name some bands definitely All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, We The Kings, Sum 41, Mayday Parade, Good Charlotte, The Maine, and basically all Warped Tour scene. Adrian also listens to a lot of Pop so a lot of things come from there too. (New Taylor Swift is amazing).
Ps. We miss Warped Tour so much.
MR: With shows being on pause this year, many artists have taken advantage of the time to write and plan for the future, what are some of your plans for 2021?
We’ve been making some songs to be released next year, we still don’t know if it’s going to be all singles, an EP, or an album, and we also want to tour on it, we think shows next year are going to be amazing in every sense. Also, we want to release a new march line.
MR: Going back to last year, the “Break Me” music video seemed like fun. Writing songs while at work is relatable to a lot of songwriters. What does the songwriting process look like for you? Do you always start with the lyrics?
It depends, it usually goes with creating some lines and adding some chords or a drum beat, sometimes we also create some lines or phrases and when there’s a few of the same subject we blend them together, and then add the music. And believe it or not, sometimes we have the concept of a video in mind and then make a song around that concept as happened with Break Me.
MR: What would you say is your favorite memory from a show/tour?
Talking about All At Once, definitely when we supported Frank Iero And The Future Violents in Guadalajara, we got to meet him and it was a great show, we loved it.
Talking about each one of us, for Eddy, his best memory is when he saw All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, Mayday Parade and Every Avenue in McAllen, TX, or Riot Fest 2013.
For Pablo is when on Warped Tour 16 in San Antonio, TX he saw a friend he met in College called Edgar, and weirdly, Edgar is Adrian’s cousin, so Pablo and Adrian met indirectly on Warped Tour ’16, but neither one of them remember it clearly. (LOL).
Some words of encouragement from the band to their fans:
As cliché as it may sound, but we truly go after this, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. Send thing, is that we don’t have a “fan base”, we are The Sailors Community, every single one of us is as any other person, it’s a place where we share the same ideals because we are all the same and we want to let all know that we can support each other. And last but not least, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t watch Shrek 2 three (or more) times a day. Eat veggies, drink water.
