The nonprofit organization JusticeAid has announced their free at-home benefit concert, Voices to Protect the Vote, to air on May 18th, 2020 at 7pm ET/4pm PT on JusticeAid’s YouTube. The event will be hosted by NYC’s WFUV Program Director Rita Houston. Headlining the event is Paula Cole, David Shaw and Zack Feinberg of The Revivalists, David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, Leyla McCalla, Kandace Springs, and Paine the Poet.
Each year, JusticeAid organizes concerts and public forums to educate the public about key civil rights challenges, and raisemoney to support grassroots organizations addressing these issues. The focus this year is on voter engagement, and suppression to support JusticeAid’s 2020 beneficiary, Election Protection/866-OUR-VOTE.
Voices to Protect the Vote will shine a light on the issue of voter suppression, and give the gift of music during these difficult times. The JusticeAid Board will match every dollar contributed, up to $100,000, to support efforts in removing barriers to voting,and ensure safe and fair access to the voting process.
