Breakaway music festival returned to Grand Rapids, MI on August 19th-20th, 2022. They brought in The Chainsmokers and DJ Snake to headline the festival with supporting artists like Yung Gravy, Two Friends, and Gashi.
The event offers two days of music at the main stage as well as a silent disco, food truck lane, and VIP areas.
Saturday’s events started with a severe weather delay. Doors opened about an hour past the scheduled start time with artists playing to an adjusted time slot. Gashi’s performance was cut short due to more lightning in the area, leading to an evacuation of the festival. By the time the weather cleared there was still time for DJ Snake to close out the night, with Jai Wolf and Oliver Tree being the only artists that didn’t perform due to weather and time constraints.
