Modern folk singer, Willie Watson played at The Listening Room in Grand Rapids, MI on October 11 as part of his US and Canada tour. For almost two decades, he’s blended old sounds of southern gospel, railroad songs and delta blues with modern folk music. On his latest album Folksinger Vol. 2, he acts as a translator of older songs, passing along his own version of the tunes that came long before him. “I’m playing the music I want to play, and it’s real simple, and I don’t have a big light show–I’m in a good place with that.” Watson says.
