Raised in Northern New Jersey with a musical upbringing, Madison Taylor particularly enjoys writing folk and pop music in her free time. The indie singer-songwriter’s love of the outdoors blended with her romantic songwriting to produce her first EP “Evergreen,” which features six original songs.
While attending Liberty University’s School of Music, she worked with Corey Pavlosky at Pipe Dream Studios in Williamsburg to record her six original songs. Her songwriting is influenced by the mysticism of Celtic art, the raw honesty of old country music, and the emphasis on emotion and nature that is indicative of the Romantic Era. William Wordsworth once said that poetry should begin as “ the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings” which the poet then “recollects in tranquility”; Madison Taylor has the same outlook toward her musical poetry.
Her first EP, “Evergreen,” was released at the beginning of 2020. It is a mix of a folk, pop, and soul blend, with all six songs knit together by themes of heartache and longing. The title stems from her relationship with love and nature. Taylor used nature as a source of refuge as well as a place to reflect on heartache. The “evergreen” also relates to love in how it is everlasting. Through her songwriting, she hopes “that music is able to connect with and soothe others who are also dealing with broken hearts and need the reminder that they’re not alone in their struggles.”
Madison Taylor offers honesty, passion, and dreams of love through her songwriting. She hopes that her vulnerability through music will offer relief and solace to anyone who has also experienced similar affairs of the heart. Listening to her music evokes a calming sense of being surrounded by nature, making it clear that Taylor has a strong and deep connection to the natural world. Her Romantic view of the world offers a familiar and unique experience for her songwriting. The idyllic poetic essence of her music sets Taylor up for a promising future as a songwriter.
To date, she has built up a following of over a thousand fans through her EP release in 2020 and the “ Destined ” music video that was released in January. As she continues the songwriting process for her next EP (or potential album), she plans on filming another music video with Toby Moon Productions and is excited for what the future holds.
